About Derek Jones Security & Firearm Academy; the school



Derek Jones Security & Firearm Academy Inc was founded on May 05, 2008 by Derek Jones.

As an experienced business man and licensed security officer; Derek saw the need for a reputable training facility for the Sarasota/Venice/Bradenton area. From this need DJSFA was born. DJSFA offers a one stop place for obtaining the training for both unarmed and armed security guard training as well as concealed firearm permits.

At the onset of September 2009, DJSFA obtained a second location located in Venice. This location exclusively offers evening Concealed Firearm Training courses, once every other week.

As our Academy began to grow and with the current economic client, our students often approached us asking where they could find the materials they would need to work as a security guard at affordable prices. From security uniforms, custom badges, to firearms, and ammunition the need was growing. From this was born the idea to open up a Security Accessories and Firearms store. We would be able to provide our students and the community with further services and enter in to a good business opportunity at the same time.

As of July 01, 2009 DJSFA has officially opened up it's doors. We pride ourselves on flexibility: if we don't have what you need, we'll order it for you. Customers are rewarded with loyalty, every five purchases with our loyalty card will reward you with a discount.

About Derek Jones; founder and president



Derek started his career in 1986 with Jones Bail Bonds in Sarasota, Florida as a Skip Bond Tracer (also know as a Bounty Hunter). He has twenty two years of diversified criminal and investigative training experiences.

Over the years he has received numerous certificates in criminal justice. The University of Florida is just one of the schools. In May of 2008 Derek traveled to Ontario, California to become a NRA Law Enforcement Certified Firearm Instructor in a course sponsored by the Ontario Police Department. He is proficient in criminal and investigation procedures, armed and unarmed security, firearms, weapons training and basic electronics.

In 2004 Derek became licensed in armed and unarmed security. He has experience in executive, corporate, celebrity, and personal protection. Hostile Terminations is another environment in which he's experienced. Derek Jones Security & Firearm can assist in preparing and implementing prevention strategies tailored to your specific situation.

Derek possess a Florida Class "C", Class "D", Class "DI", Class "G", Class "K", Class "M", State license, and also a Private Detective license from the State of New Jersey.
